Beaches

The nearest beaches (Trebarwith Strand, Tintagel, Bossiney Cove) are dog-friendly all year round. You need to go at low tide for the sandy beach. There is a tide time book in the welcome box or look online. Further information on getting to the beaches is on the Page Area

Trebarwith Strand has a brilliant pub, the Port William Inn, set up high on the cliff. C Coffee & cake van on the large car park. Surf School operates in the summer.

At Bossiney, there is Bossiney Tea Rooms & a vintage ice cream van in the car park open in peak season.

Tintagel beach access is down steep steps by the site for Tintagel Castle. Take the path down from the village by the Cornish Bakery/Wootons pub.

For the bigger beaches head to the Bude area (Widemouth, Crooklets, Summerleaze, Sandymouth, etc). https://www.visitbude.info/beach-lovers/bude-beaches/ Crackington Haven is nice on the way to Bude (need to walk over rocks to get to the sand) – best at low tide and seasonal dog ban in place. Great pub there – The Coombe Barton Inn and a café.

Or head Rock/Padstow direction. Lots of lovely sandy beaches.

Rock beach near Wadebridge & Daymer Bay both dog-friendly all year round. Nearby Polzeath is popular with surfers and there is a surf school.

You can walk from Rock to Daymer Bay and back at low tide. Take the ferry over to Padstow town from Rock beach (ferry departs on the beach near the car park and further along the beach at low tide).

Padstow area – lots of picturesque bays including Constantine Bay, Booby’s Bay, Mother Ivey’s Bay.

Rick Stein’s Cornish Arms pub in St Merryn conveniently placed for this area.
